Finding the right remedy for each patient requires a consultation of 1.5 – 2 hours. During that time, the homeopathic physician should ascertain the main features of the patient’s physiology and mentality. The doctor comes to know about the patient’s health condition, his character, how he can tolerate heat and cold weather, the quantity of liquids he usually drinks, food preferences, and his behavior and emotional characteristics. Such a wide spectrum of information is necessary because homeopathy uses a holistic approach to healing (e.g. a patient may be unaware that the internal reason for his disease is deep resentment or grief). A homeopathic interview is like physician’s and psychologist’s interview put together. Sincere investment from the patient is necessary for a successful remedy selection. The more frankly and objectively the patient answers the homeopath’s questions, including questions about deep feeling and emotions, the more successful the treatment will be.
Dr.Hering, the “father” of American Homeopathy, discovered the law of cure. It indicates in which order symptoms should go away in case of true healing. This law works not only for homeopathic treatment but also for all other natural treatment options.
The law says that healing should go:
from a more important organ to a less important one
from within outwards
in the reverse order of the symptoms
from above downwards.
In reality it means the following. Often a patient comes to a homeopathy practitioner with a litany of complains. After the interview, the homeopath prescribes a remedy. What kind of bodily reaction does the homeopath expect? Is it possible that all the diseases which bothered a patient for years, sometimes for decades, will go away at once? That’s hard to believe, right? In fact, the symptoms will go away in a strict order. This order is predicted by Hering’s law.
